Giorno 6th, Magic Island of La Palma
Sixth day in the community ' Pachamama. I finally found some time to write. Plus we're going into town 'to Sunday's fruit and vegetable market, so I'll have' some 'of internet coverage to publish this post.
Last night we were invited to a jam session, so excited we all prepared for the evening, imagining going to a bar in town '.
But no 🙂
It was a jam organized in the forest, with the local people and not, all from the community 'of the area.
La Palma is an island of 80000 inhabitants, so if somebody organizes something, an event, by word of mouth is easy to alert all neighbors.
Just arrived on site I immediately noticed the joy and peace of the people, the simplicity, mothers and fathers with their children, musicians (a lot of musicians), our community ...
I'm starting right away to get into the feeling of celebration, to jump and dance, taken from the music (it was fantastic, something unique).
After a few minutes you approach a girl who smiles at me and hugs me, as if he knew me.
Let me introduce myself, I ask the usual questions of ritual (where you're from, where you live), and she (obviously I can't remember her name) tells me that comes from Ireland, she came here to visit the island backpackers a few months ago, and who now lives in the caves of the mountains "Palmer, and" a little here and a little there and stops in the communities where it happens so here you are always well received, just bring some love and positive energy and in return you can always get a bed and a hot meal anywhere.
Approaches another girl shows up, comes from Germany.
She also traveled from some mountains, now it stopped in a community to lend a helping hand to the project, they are trying to achieve self-reliance energy and food, but they're also specializing on drawing on stone.
Everyone here has something to teach or to learn, and every community is specialized in any particular culture or art or culture, so there is a continuous exchange of products, energy, knowledge, art, ...
For example yesterday morning he arrived in Pachamama a guy with a chest full of bananas on the shoulders.
I thought he was the guy who sells the fruit, given that 10 min walk to reach us has faced to climb the mountain with a weight on your shoulders not indifferent.
In amazement I discovered that came from neighboring communities and that bananas were a simple gift for us!
Returning to jam.
Going towards the "comida" (food), I meet a guy, the only Italian to jam and the first Italian I meet since I got here.
It's called Simone. He talks about his project of school free alternative for everyone.
I speak for an hour, it's iperentusiasta, while it talks to me speaks to the whole world go to greet him (seems to know everyone here).
Has 30 years old, living in 3 years, Palm's father, created with other 2 persons a community called "Casa de los Niños".
Have a vegetable garden, an orchard, a house built with Earth and stone.
The project "Casa de los Niños" is precisely to engage neighbouring communities and create an alternative school free and casual, with a chance to get enough food enough to accommodate mothers or families that need with the tepee.
Tells me there is putting heart and soul into the project, which has already organized 3 meetings, which already has the endorsement of 15 people and slowly going to the accession of more people and that he will for sure.
On the island there is already a primary school, alternative school Valdorfcreated by Rudolf Steiner. The problem is that it costs 280 euros per month and not everyone can afford it. And plus Valdorf in La Palma's only primary school.
Meanwhile, the music in the mountains under the stars continues, alternating musicians and give life to a succession of rhythms and sounds amazing, improvisations from fear.
Also I've already met 2 musicians Pachamama, son 2 Swiss brothers (Korrigan Circus) running around the island sleeping everywhere and create music with people of communities, drawing inspiration everywhere. Support economically without problems by playing a few days per month on the street in the capital city of Santa Cruz.
One of them has learned the art of wool on the island, in fact with itself always wears a hat, a bag and a carpet produced, unique but very well made and very beautiful.
Io e Laura (un’altra volontaria di Pachamama), we took advantage by asking about the technique that he uses, and we are trying very slowly with the wool we have available (another gift from a pastor of a neighboring community) here to build cuffs for the time being, then we'll do something else.
The jam there was even the folks at "Casa La Punta", another community very close to Pachamama and very connected, in fact we exchange often produced and often there are people passing from place to place to help out.
Turning a bit among the people, meeting a French boy, of course he too lives in a mountain community, "Los Lonitos", which invites me to go that way ' and that they are welcome.
It was a special night, really had no idea how magical and this island paradise, of how the energies are so connected!
I had never seen before so many interconnected communities that close and concentrated in a small region like can't be the island of La Palma.
I am here by myself a week, people that I'm having, thirsty for knowledge, to create, to Exchange, to help, to teach, to realize their dreams knowing that you can't, it's definitely much more than what I could have meet in 6 months working in a large company like I always did until a few months ago, where dreams are repressed and we're not allowed to realise them.
I'm happy, really happy to be here in the magic island of La Palma.
